Thornton Engineering is seeking a skilled and trade-qualified Welder Job in Australia to join its experienced fabrication team in Corio, Australia. This role is ideal for welders with strong hands-on experience in MIG welding and exposure to other welding processes such as TIG, Flux-core, and Stick welding. Working in a well-equipped workshop environment, you will contribute to high-quality steel fabrication projects that support some of Australia’s most iconic infrastructure developments.

Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality welding using GMAW (MIG) as the primary process
- Carry out welding tasks using GTAW (TIG), Flux-core, and SMAW (Stick) where required
- Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) and follow job instructions accurately
- Select appropriate consumables and welding variables for each task
- Operate and maintain welding machines, power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment
- Produce fabricated steel components to exact quality and safety standards
- Work closely with boilermakers, welders, and workshop supervisors
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
Requirements
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welder) or equivalent
- Ability to pass a welder qualification test
- Strong experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
- Ability to read and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Current and valid Australian driver’s licence
- Experience with stainless steel is advantageous
- Forklift, Dogman (DG), or high-risk work licences are desirable but not mandatory
