Key Responsibilities
- Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) to identify materials, consumables, and variables required for each job.
- Perform high-quality welding using GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), flux-core, and/or SMAW (stick) techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints accurately.
- Operate and maintain welding machines, hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools.
- Produce fabricated steel parts to meet strict quality, accuracy, and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively within a team of welders and boilermakers in the workshop.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
- Follow all company safety guidelines and comply with relevant Australian industry standards.
- Assist with general workshop duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welder) or equivalent qualification.
- Strong welding skills with the ability to pass a welder qualification test.
- Proven experience in GMAW (MIG) welding.
- Experience in GTAW (TIG), flux-core, and SMAW (stick) welding (advantageous).
- Experience with stainless steel fabrication is an added advantage.
- Ability to read, understand, and work from WPS documents.
- Skilled in using fabrication tools, measurement tools, and workshop equipment.
- Current and valid driver’s licence.
- Forklift, dogman (DG), or other high-risk work licences (highly desirable).
