Role Overview – Safety Officer

The appointed Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) protocols and procedures across a mid-rise residential project in Dubai. This includes site inspections, risk assessments, incident monitoring, and emergency preparedness, as well as enforcing internal and client-imposed safety standards.

The successful candidate must have 5+ years of safety experience within major civil or building projects and a strong track record in Tier 1 contracting environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain all project-specific QHSE procedures and standards.
  • Participate in client and internal QHSE meetings and assist in documenting minutes, follow-ups, and action plans.
  • Review and assist in updating risk assessments, COSHH evaluations, and other safety-related documentation.
  • Monitor and report on QHSE performance indicators, including inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety compliance metrics.
  • Conduct Permit to Work (PTW) audits and site accommodation inspections.
  • Ensure follow-up actions are taken for identified QHSE discrepancies.
  • Lead or support periodic emergency drills and evacuation exercises on site.
  • Perform daily safety checks at workshops, plants, and across construction areas.
  • Deliver refresher inductions for site staff and visitor inductions for contractors and external parties.
  • Support the Head of QHSE with reports, compliance reviews, and liaison with third-party stakeholders when required.
  • Promote and enforce a zero-incident culture across the construction site.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 years of OSH (Occupational Safety & Health) experience, preferably with Tier 1 contractors in the UAE.
  • Familiarity with mid-rise and high-rise building projects, especially in structural installation stages.
  • Proven ability to manage QHSE compliance independently on active job sites.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong team collaboration mindset with flexible working hours as needed.

Work Environment & Culture

The successful candidate will operate directly on a mid-rise residential construction site in Dubai. You will be working within a structured main contracting environment and will liaise daily with engineering, HSE, and project management teams.
