Key Responsibilities
Planting
- Walk carefully between rails and report any issues to supervisors.
- Place plants correctly on growing media starting from the back of the row.
- Insert disinfected drippers into each block.
Picking (Harvesting)
- Use picking carts properly and clean after each use.
- Harvest only the assigned colour stage.
- Maintain good speed while prioritizing product quality.
De-leafing
- Remove 2–3 leaves below eye level as instructed.
- Avoid damaging plants or fruit.
Lowering, Clipping & Pruning
- Safely operate lifts and follow all height-safety rules.
- Secure plant growth by attaching clips to support strings.
- Prune flowers correctly for proper fruit development.
- Clean equipment and carts at the end of each shift.
Other Tasks
- Perform general cleanup, sweeping, and debris removal.
- Use power equipment only after proper training.
Food Safety (CanadaGAP Compliance)
- Follow all food safety rules and hygiene requirements.
- Wear gloves when handling product.
- Wash and sanitize hands after breaks.
- Clean and sanitize tools/equipment regularly.
- Maintain food safety records and report non-compliance.
Safety, Security & Biosecurity
- Wear required PPE including steel-toe footwear.
- Operate equipment safely and only when trained.
- Follow biosecurity entry procedures (boot scrubber).
- Report accidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately.
Attendance & Appearance
- Arrive on time and ready for work.
- Follow designated break periods.
- Wear assigned uniform, hairnet (when required), and maintain good personal hygiene.
Teamwork
- Work respectfully with coworkers to achieve production goals.
- Assist team members and accept additional tasks when needed.
- Support a harassment-free and cooperative workplace.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to work in greenhouse conditions (humidity, varying temperatures).
- Capability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
