Fonterra is currently seeking a motivated Farms Assistant Job in Auckland to join its Longburn Farms operation located in the Manawatu region, just minutes from Palmerston North. Longburn Farms consists of two productive dairy farms and two support blocks that work closely together to maximise efficiency, pasture use, and animal welfare. Responsibilities
- Milking up to 600 cows using a renovated 50-bale rotary shed
- Supporting milking operations at Innesmoor Farm when required
- Feeding calves and carrying out feeding-out duties
- Setting up and maintaining break fences
- Weed control and general farm maintenance
- Operating tractors and farm machinery
- Maintaining farm vehicles, sheds, and equipment to high standards
- Supporting animal health and welfare requirements
- Assisting with stock movement and grazing management
- Maintaining accurate records for stock, treatments, grazing, and effluent
- Supporting environmental compliance and sustainability practices
- Following all Health & Safety requirements and farm procedures
- Assisting the Farm Manager with daily and strategic farm operations
Requirements
- Previous farming experience (preferred but not essential)
- Full driver’s licence
- Ability to work an average of 50 hours per week
- Willingness to work hands-on in a rural environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adopt new farming technologies
- Physically fit for farm work
- Drive-in employee (housing allowance provided)
