Job Responsibilities
As a Farms Assistant, you will report directly to the Farm Manager and support daily farm operations across Longburn Farms. Your responsibilities will include:
- Milking 600 cows using a renovated 50-bale rotary shed with automatic cup removers and drafting
- Supporting milking operations at Innesmoor Farm with 350 cows using a 32-a-side herringbone shed
- Feeding calves and assisting with feeding out
- Setting up and maintaining break fences
- Performing weed control and general farm maintenance
- Operating tractors and other farm machinery
- Assisting with animal health and welfare requirements
- Maintaining accurate records for stock, grazing, treatments, and effluent management
- Ensuring farm vehicles, sheds, and equipment are well maintained
- Supporting Health & Safety compliance and environmental standards
- Assisting with on-farm decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Previous farming experience is preferred but not essential
- Willingness to work an average of 50 hours per week
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driver’s license is required
- Drive-in employee (housing allowance provided)
- Eligible to work in New Zealand
- Ability to follow safety procedures and farm protocols
