Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of commercial spaces as per management requirements
- Empty bins, containers, and trays and dispose of waste and recyclables correctly
- Operate industrial and backpack vacuum cleaners to clean floors and work areas
- Remove dust and dirt from ceilings, walls, floors, fixtures, and overhead pipes
- Use acids and solvents for surface cleaning, stain removal, floor stripping, waxing, and polishing
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms and wet areas and report faulty equipment
- Clean and sanitise cupboards using appropriate tools and equipment
- Use cleaning machines for deep carpet cleaning
- Remove residues from machinery, boilers, tanks, furnaces, and ships when required
- Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages
- Report maintenance issues, repairs, or cleaning concerns to management
- Handle and dispose of chemicals and contaminated water in compliance with the Environmental Act 1991
- Apply correct colour coding for cloths, mops, and buckets to prevent contamination
Requirements
- Ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Comfortable working rostered shifts from Monday to Sunday, including weekends
- Availability to work late evening and night shifts between 5:00 pm and 6:00 am
- Valid New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- Willingness to travel within the Otago region
- Physically fit and healthy
- Comfortable working with harsh cleaning chemicals such as acids and solvents
- Comfortable using backpack vacuum cleaners weighing 5–6 kg
- Willing to undergo MOJ criminal check
- Willing to complete a non-intrusive drug test
