Job Summary – Part 1

The Shift Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the restaurant, responsible for supervising, coordinating, and motivating staff during shifts. Using pre-shift planning tools, you will lead team huddles, monitor performance, and take corrective action when needed. Your focus will be on delivering exceptional guest service, maintaining McDonald’s operational standards, and meeting targets for safety, security, and profitability.

Job Summary – Part 2

In this role, you will spend 85–90% of your time on-floor managing operations and supervising areas, with 10–15% dedicated to administrative tasks. You will assign responsibilities to area supervisors, conduct travel paths every 30 minutes to ensure service and quality standards are met, and help maintain records of sales, stock, and wastage. This role also includes handling guest concerns, cash management, and contributing to department-level operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of staff who prepare, portion, and serve food.
  • Lead shifts as the designated “Shift Supervisor,” assigning tasks to area supervisors.
  • Communicate shift plans to area supervisors during huddles.
  • Conduct travel paths every 30 minutes, providing direction and coaching to staff.
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, service speed, and cleanliness.
  • Keep records of stock, sales, and wastage.
  • Train and manage staff in job duties, food safety, and health procedures.
  • Follow cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
  • Liaise with guests to ensure positive relationships and address complaints professionally.
  • Establish and implement methods to meet work schedules.
  • Enforce high standards of employment and people practices.
  • Assist department managers with tasks such as hiring documents, ordering, and inventory counts.
  • Attend and participate in management and department meetings.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Several years of experience in food preparation or food service.
  • 2–4 years of recent restaurant or food-related management experience in a quick-service, high-volume setting (McDonald’s experience an asset).
  • Basic/intermediate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid First Aid and Food Safety certifications (training provided if needed).
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or legally entitled to work in Canada for 12 months or more.
  • This position does not include an LMIA.

Salary & Benefits
